“Montréaler Michael Dean wields both turntables and digital interfaces as Wiklow, his embodiment of a post digital techno. A computer scientist with a Masters in Music Technology, Dean is an artist, producer, academic and tech expert – Wiklow combines all of his facets, making the glitch melodic in an experimental techno interwoven with acoustic classical instrumentation and sound art composition. Solo or collaborating with live musicians, radical radio producers and other local underground noise makers, Wiklow rides the peaks and crashes of its own harsh washes of synthetic noise and radio feedback. His live set at MUTEK 2015 sources strange beauty and emotion in abstract, cold technologies, transporting listeners into a world of familiar digital sounds given organic autonomy.”
